Thank you to the hundreds of people who joined our celebration on Saturday 9th March 2013 at the Council House! This was Derby’s biggest IWD event yet. The Create & Innovate theme was enjoyed by a wide age range with over 40 stalls, arts and crafts and science activities. The speakers and workshops were described as inspirational. The entertainment was also enjoyed with the fantastic Dale Diva, Surtal Asian Arts, Hoverla Ukrainian dancers and more. Thank you to everyone involved – especially our volunteers who raised funds to cover costs and secured sponsors to put on this event for the community and thanks to the Council for hosting the event in the newly refurbished Council House.
Thanks to a student project at Burton & South Derbyshire College we are delighted to have a magazine to mark International Women’s Day in Derby. Printed copies will be given out at the event on 9th March. The magazine includes the history of IWD & interviews with local women involved. Film clips of the interviews in the magazine will also be published soon – watch this space. Download the students’ magazine here – enjoy!: IWD Derby 2013 MAGAZINE
The new Cafe Relish inside the Council House will be open for Derby’s celebration of International Women’s Day next Saturday 9th March offering a range of snacks, refreshments and lunch options for sale. Make a day of it with family and friends and enjoy some ‘me-time’!
There will be a free creche at Women’s Day Derby next Saturday 9th March 10am-4pm at the Council House.
