Students at Burton & South Derbyshire worked on a project to create a magazine for our International Women’s Day (IWD) Festival 2014. They gained valuable experience working on the design of our posters and magazine, interviewing lots of women involved, creating articles, appealing for article contributions, photography, graphic design and editing. As well as using these technical skills they had an opportunity to learn more about the women’s movement, gender inequalities past and present and to meet some very inspiring women. They have produced and donated a magazine that offers something very different to the usual glossy mags on the shelves.
Printed copies of the magazine have been kindly donated by the college for the festival and you can download a pdf version here: IWD Derby 2014 Magazine.
We wish to thank the students, all the women who contributed and Burton & South Derbyshire College for this project work and contribution to the festival.
A job well done by the learners at BSDC. Looking forward to handing them out tomorrow.
