Our choir rehearsals are going well, bringing local women together to sing songs byUniversity logo and about women to celebrate our HERstory when we perform at the International Women’s Day (IWD) Festival on Saturday 11th March. With thanks to the University of Derby Community Fund.

Our next choir rehearsal is Monday 27th February 12.30pm-2.30pm at the Mandela Centre, Peartree Road, and again on Monday 6th March at the same time before we perform at 3pm on-stage at the International Women’s Day Festival Saturday 11th March 2017.

Derby celebrates Int’l Women’s Day 2017


Derby’s celebrations of IWD and Women’s History Month this March are organised entirely by local volunteers for the community.

Dates for your diary:

HERstory Exhibition launch – 100 years of IWD Derby/shire at Derby Museum & Art Gallery, Saturday 4th March. FREE. Drop-in viewing and Suffragette-inspired crafts 11am-4pm. Join us at 2pm for a special talk and film screening including Derby women’s recorded memories and meet some of the volunteers who researched our HERstory.

Derby & Derbyshire Inspirational Women Awards organised by Vox Feminarum – an evening of entertainment and awards ceremony on Saturday 4th March – reserve your place/s on the link above. We are delighted that two of our volunteers are shortlisted for individual awards and we are shortlisted for the Team Award too.

International Women’s Day Festival, Saturday 11th March 2017, 10am-4pm at Derby Market Place and QUAD. FREE entry – all supporters welcome – all genders, all ages with fun for all the family. Attractions include live performances all day, Yoga Yurt, Children’s Playbus, arts & crafts, stalls, sports, charities, free Busy Bees crèche, streetfood vans and inspiring hourly workshops at QUAD.  Download poster here
